Mills Soko is currently Associate Professor of International Political Economy at the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business (GSB), and directs the GSB’s Doctoral Studies Programme.
He holds a B. Soc Sc from the University of Cape Town, a Master’s in International Studies from the University of Stellenbosch, a Master’s in International Political Economy from the University of Warwick, UK, and D.Phil on the political economy of trade policy reform in post-apartheid South Africa from Warwick. He has occupied a number of research-related positions, from being a research assistant with UCT’s Equal Opportunities Research Project to researcher on parliamentary affairs at the Institute for Democracy in South Africa between 1992 and 1994 to researcher and later head of Policy and Legislative Research in the upper house of SA parliament (the NCOP) in 1996.
He serves on the boards of the New Agenda, Africa Growth Agenda, Inyathelo (The South African Institute of Advancement), the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation, the Evian Group’s Brains Trust. He is also a member of the Department of Trade and Industry’s Trade Reference Group, the Africa Business Network and SAIIA.
He is currently doing an analysis on behalf of the IGD on the efficacy of the Code of Business Conduct for SA business abroad.
